Our Part in the ASPCA Adoption

ASPCA
In January 2016, nearly 700 animals were seized by the Hoke County Sheriff’s department from The Haven- Friends for Life Animal Shelter. The ASPCA created a temporary field shelter to house these animals and address their medical needs. Local veterinarians and veterinary technicians volunteered on site and opened up their hospitals to the pets in need.

Over the course of two weeks, Meadowmont Animal Hospital took in several dogs and cats. Dr. Robertson, the Meadowmont Animal Hospital team and some friends from Park Veterinary Hospital generously gave their time and expertise to perform over 20 much needed surgeries including spay and neuters, dental surgeries, and mass removals. It was a tremendous feat, and Dr. Robertson worked around the clock and on her days off to tend to the patients who were hospitalized in an effort to get them ready for adoption.

In March, there were 524 dogs and cats ready to be adopted, and the ASPCA hosted a huge adoption event at the field shelter in Sanford. Although it was originally planned to span over three days, the event was a huge success and every single animal was adopted within the first day and a half! Dr. Robertson and the Meadowmont Animal Hospital team volunteered at the event and offered free wellness exams, free health insurance, and a generous supply of flea and tick control and heartworm prevention to local adopting residents.

None of this would have been possible without the help and dedication of our awesome team at Meadowmont Animal Hospital, the volunteer doctors and staff from Park Vet, and the generous donations from Zoetis, Merck, Pet Partners Insurance, and Idexx. Everyone’s hard work, generosity, and kindness made for an experience that we will never forget!
