I decided to pursue veterinary medicine because of the special connection I felt with animals from a young age. As a child, some of my favorite activities included riding horses, nursing injured and orphaned wildlife to health, and helping homeless pets join a family. Veterinary medicine was a natural path for me.
I graduated from Appalachian State University and earned my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine. Following graduation, I joined a large 24-hour veterinary hospital in Reidsville, North Carolina. During this time, I discovered my passion for emergency and critical care medicine and enjoyed my role as the Director of Emergency Services for five years.
I moved back to my home town of Chapel Hill in 2012 and transitioned from emergency medicine to primary care. I joined the Park Veterinary Hospital team in Durham and embraced their high-quality preventive medicine approach to primary care and dentistry. In 2015 I opened Meadowmont Animal Hospital in Chapel Hill. I cherish the relationships I develop with each patient, their families and the surrounding community.
My veterinary interests include dentistry, surgery, dermatology, emergency and critical care medicine. My community interests include working with assistance dogs from Ears Eyes Nose Paws and supporting local animal groups Paws4Ever and Orange County Animal Services. In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my husband, two daughters, and mischievous dog Jack. I love running, gardening, riding horses and visiting the mountains and beaches of North Carolina.
